UHN’s Infrastructure Department, a team of over 35 people decided to celebrate the holidays a little differently this year…

Instead of a ‘Secret Santa’ exchange between co-workers, they decided to give back to the community and support the Yonge Street Mission with a food and toy drive.

The team took time to shop for new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food for those in need. The idea came after an excellent suggestion from Kady in the Energy and Environment branch. The entire department agreed it was the best way to celebrate this year’s the holiday as a team.

The Yonge Street Mission brings hope and joy to over 6,000 people each year. This includes struggling families with children, marginalized adults, homeless street youth and isolated seniors.

By collecting gifts and food donations, UHN’s Infrastructure team hoped to share the happiness and wonder of the holidays that we are privileged to enjoy with friends and family in the warmth of our homes.

The Yonge Street Mission depends on the generosity and goodwill of schools, workplaces and individuals. If you are looking to support a dedicate mission just down the street from TGH, please give the Yonge Street Mission some consideration especially during this time of year.

Cheers one and all, and happy holidays from Infrastructure @ UHN.
