Growing up our parents prepared balanced meals for us only to watch the fruits and vegetables sit alone on the plate after everyone is finished eating (at least that was my case as a child). Now as a fruits and veggies lover, I still struggle to incorporate them into my diet as often as I’d like. When it comes to diet, there is a lot of discussion about what fruits and veggies are best and how to eat them. One thing that we can all agree on is the nutritional value that fruits and veggies have.
If you’re like me and need a bit of motivation/fun to eat your fruits and veggies then the #GreatBigCrunch is the event for you!
This year will mark the 14th annual Great Big Crunch event! On Thursday, March 10th at 1:00pm (or anytime during the month of March) we encourage everyone to virtually participate by taking a synchronized bite into a local crunchy veggie or fruit!
Since 2008, over 1 million people have joined in on the fun and engaging learning opportunity. This year’s event will be brought to us by the Coalition for Healthy School Food to connect youth with healthy and sustainable food systems. From coast to coast, let’s celebrate together and enjoy healthy snacking with colleagues or friends! If you are a UHN employee, share with us your Great Big Crunch on social media by using the hashtag #GreatBigCrunchUHN. Otherwise, use the hashtag #GreatBigCrunch!
